Positive Id-ing of the Zodiac
UPDATE ON "THE POSITIVE ID-ING" OF THE ZODIAC
This new investigative group who has taken the liberty of saying they have positively “ID” -ed the real Zodiac Killer is completely wrong.
How do I know? Because first of all I know the face of the real Zodiac Killer, and Gary Poste is not the man.
Secondly, the facts are all wrong. Just because Poste was supposedly known for killing five people in San Francisco, does not mean anything, nor does it positively ID him. The actual count was most likely quite higher than five. It was only five that were documented. The real count was probably 39 or so according to the Zodiac himself in commenting to newspapers and police in a series of cryptic notes.
I know the face. It was one of those experiences that seals images in the mind like a branding iron. The real Zodiac bears a very strong resemblance to the right side of the now famous historic police wanted poster. It was further corrected by eye-witnesses to reshape the size, outline, and character of the face with almost a square chin, a key facial ID characteristic.
There are three other women who know the face of the real Zodiac Killer which they told the police bore a strong resemblance to the right side of the Police Wanted poster. They saw him in the late 1960s and I saw him in 1978. Except for a few wrinkles, and little graying hair, he looked just like that drawing. These women following a wild card tip wound up having a lengthy face-to-face encounter with the real Zodiac at the Aquarius Bar in Napa, CA. a couple of days after his attack on the couple at Lake Berryessa who were their friends.
“Sharon,” and her two ponytail sidekicks had an encounter they will never forget as he bragged about the special powers he possessed which he drew from the stars, and talked further about how he would one day have slaves in Paradise.
“I’m going to tell each one of you your Zodiac signs,” he bragged.
“But you don’t know our birthdays,” Sharon said, speaking up.
“I don’t need to know your birthdays,” he replied in a voice like chocolate fudge. He proceeded to accurately predict each one of their Zodiac signs. Sharon was breaking out in cool sweat. With each moment that passed she grew more convinced it was “him.”
This suspenseful true account is in my book. You will never forget it either. See how this episode played out in real life.
A couple of days later all the girls were interviewed at great length by investigative police and reviewed the Wanted Poster drawing which they all agreed looked like him. The response from the law enforcement was:
“We don’t want to scare you girls but that had to be the real Zodiac Killer. He told you girls things he has only told the police in letters to the police.”
These women have communicated to me and have agreed that Gary Poste is not the face of the Zodiac. His real identity is not likely to ever be revealed as the police missed their opportunity to positively ID him a few days after our chase encounter when he turned up dead fearing he would be hunted down and arrested. In my book, you will read the facts that came out some ten years later. If you are interested in this topic and one of the top unsolved mysteries in the world, you need to read my book “Whatever Happened to the Zodiac Killer?” It will completely intrigue you.
